Nature:
-Appearance: colorless liquid
-Solubility: Soluble in organic solvents, insoluble in water
-Odor: pungent, alcoholic
-Density: 0.82g/cm³
-Boiling point: about 195°C
-Flash Point: approx. 90°C
Use:
- 5-Nonanol is commonly used as an industrial solvent, such as for paints, inks, glues and cleaners.
-It can also be used as a lubricant, foaming agent, plasticizer and perfume raw materials.
Preparation Method:
- 5-Nonanol can be obtained by alcoholation of sodium lactate, such as an amine salt, with p-butylbenzoate.
-In this reaction, the product is obtained by reacting n-butyl benzoate with sodium lactate in the presence of an alkali catalyst, and then 5-Nonanol is obtained by acid treatment.
